The Matthias Church was built in 1015, shortly after the country's conversion to the Christian faith. Hungarian kings were crowned in this church and royal weddings were also held here. The building is a great example of Central-European gothic style and despite the destruction suffered during the turkish occupation and the Second World War, the interior of the church is restored to a beautiful state.
